Occupation: Traveler
Birthplace: Calligo
Nation they're currently in: Sidus
Race: quarter human, three-quarters Heron Beastkin
Appearance//
Hemaka is a tall, well-muscled man. He has firmly-defined abdominal muscles, with very dark mocha skin. His complexion is healthy, although he does have some scars on his back and shoulders. He stands at about 6'0", and looms at an impressive height over most of his human and Herodium relatives. He has a strong torso, and and overall powerful body. He's capable of moving fast on his feet as well as lifting hefty weights. But he is stronger than he is faster, which is something he most likely inherited from his human father and grandmother. He has broad, angular hands. He has an extreme amount of physical and magical power, with high stamina due to routine training. His powerful stature and usually frosty glare has a habit of thoroughly intimidating weaker-willed people. He has striking, huge white wings that emerge from his back.
Hemaka has a strong and angular face, with a smooth jawline with sharp edges. His nose is elegant curved, and he has bright, amethyst eyes. He mostly seems to wear cold expressions, whether it be a cold look of indifference, a cold grin, or a look of cold smugness. He seems to lack the ability to look warm and welcoming when he's in the presence of others, which can lead to many viewing him as arrogant or even standoffish. He doesn't seem to care or want to change, however. He has short, ashen white hair, with pointed ears that aren't as pointed as those who of are full Herodium heritage. This indicates that he's not full-blooded, so he used to get a lot of flack for it. But these days, he seems to look to intimidating for anyone to bother him about it.
Clothing/Armor: Hemaka wears an intricate, black and gold headdress, with a gold and black collar, with beautiful green gems embedded into it. He has detached, black sleeves. He is literally shirtless, as although he trains and exercises very often, he does not battle very often anymore. His clothing isn't very practical for battle, anyways. He wears black and white pants, with green and black patterns on the thighs, as well as a sash with gold bangles.
Personality//
Hemaka is a cold and seemingly standoffish fellow. Although handsome, he is aloof and doesn't much bother interacting with the public. Rather, he remains holed up in the palace of Sidus. His reputation as a prophet and as a man of intense foresight and visions into the future often makes others wary of him. He openly shows smugness most of the time when he's showing his emotions. He prefers to be alone than being in the company of others, but allows others to tag along with him from time to time. Servants inside the palace especially have taken a liking to him, as he actually helps them out and covers for them from time to time. He greatly sympathizes with those at the bottom of the social pyramid, as he was once treated very poorly. Although he can seem like he's unpleasant, if one goes up and actually speaks to him, they'll discover that he's a fellow full of knowledge. He's quite a diligent learner who has always been invested in reading books and learning. He has an almost crazed thirst for knowledge, but definitely not for power.
Although Hemaka is widely regarded as a celebrity in the land of Sidus, he sees little purpose in his own life at the moment. He feels incredibly weak due to his heron heritage. Although his body is physically powerful, he has never been trained to use an actual weapon. He is really only capable of using healing and supporting skills for his allies. Hemaka, despite being rather sheltered for the last couple of years, is quite worldly due to his travels before becoming entangled in Sidus's royalty. He has traveled to Lunae and was born in Calligo. But he would never dare set foot into Solis, or Lunae. He has a deep sense of understanding, and that others may not be as privileged as he. Despite how wise he can be, he can also be rather smug and jibe recklessly at those who have more power than he does, which has gotten him in trouble before. He has a thorough hate for strict authority figures, or male authority figures overall. He's kind of prejudiced against his own gender. Hemaka can also tend to be manipulative and twisted. He has a long fuse on his temper, and is an adept liar. He has an absolute talent for twisting his words and the intentions of others to fit into his own designs.
Hemaka has a deep love for learning about the cultures of other countries and species. He wants to know what makes people tick, and how they work. He's very good at observing people, and after he's observed them enough, he can easily provoke them. He knows how to make others quarrel with each other, and at times does so for his own amusement. Hemaka tends to become bored easily, leading to him becoming cruel. There is nothing he hates more than boredom. He's always seen with something occupying him. Whether it be a book, a person, anything. He just hates being idle and bored. Hemaka is ridiculously patient as well. He waits for the perfect opportunity to get what he wants. He also has an amazing memory, and perfectly recall many events that others cannot. An easy way to irk him (perhaps the only way to irk him) is to move the objects in his room out of order. He's very neat and tidy, but not so obsessive that he cleans his room whenever he sees the smallest speck of dust. Hemaka is incredibly brutal towards humans and beastkin who discriminate. He has known Beastkin who have discriminated against him due to his heritage.
Likes: Birds, springtime, traveling, reading books, riddles, amusing himself, sleeping, adventure literature, novels about other cultures, learning, walking around the garden at night
Dislikes: Losing a book, being bored, poorly-written literature, salty foods, people who indulge themselves too much, dangerously ambitious people
Greatest Strength: Perhaps Hemaka's greatest strength is his knowledge and how fast he learns. He's thoroughly informed on other cultures and countries, as well as the inner workings of psychology and other species.
Worst Flaw: Hemaka's desperation to be amused is by far his worst trait. He's go as far as to manipulate others into fighting each other, if it means he won't be bored anymore.
Hobbies: Hemaka likes gardening, reading books, debating as well as merely talking with others.
Goals: None, he's trying to find one
Quirks: Hemaka gets a bit irate whenever someone moves an object in his room. He also taps his foot when impatient.
History//
Hemaka's grandfather was full human, while his grandmother was full heron beastkin. His father was half-heron beastkin, while his mother was full heron beastkin, leading him to have a quarter of human heritage in him. Unfortunately, Hemaka's human characteristics shown, besides his pure white wings and ability to transform. He had much darker skin and a much stronger build than the heron beastkin he was raised around in Calligo. He was treated very cruelly by his peers, and as a result hardened into a cold young man. He isolated himself, and took to reading books and spending time with adults, as well as learning instead of playing outside. It was clear from a young age, that he had a certain gift. Or a curse. Hemaka was gifted with the ability to peer into the future. Considerably far into the future. He would often get very clear and vivid visions, which he of course told no one about until he was much older. Hemaka was raised in a village of heron beastkin. The fact that there was something off with him was made clear when he stopped a young female heron beastkin from falling to her death. Although the village was grateful, many were confused, as it would have been impossible to realize unless he had known it was going to happen.
Since Hemaka was never very welcomed in his village until after he saved the girl, he decided to take his leave at age fifteen. Calligo had not yet closed its gates. He explored around the nation, where many were bewildered with his appearance and recognized him as a crossbreed. Some scorned him for this, but he disregarded them. Throughout the journey, he trained his body as well as his mind. Trouble came to him as he traveled into Lunae, before the previous emperor died. A group of bandits kidnapped him, and he was almost sold onto the slave market as a rare item. He received scars on his back and shoulders, but was rescued by law enforcement sent by the emperor. It was there he was invited to the palace. He was incredibly wary, but allowed them to tend to his wounds. He attended a banquet there, where he almost encountered the future ruler of Lunae, Aloysius. Aloysius was a young boy, who had peeked into the party through a door, when the emperor spotted Hemaka gazing towards the young boy, the emperor moved Hemaka away, proclaiming Aloysius to be "a dirty peasant's child" and to "disregard" that he had ever seen him. This struck Hemaka as wrong, but as he had no place to go, he remained at the palace.
He did eventually meet Aloysius, and sympathized with the child. Hemaka would tell Aloysius stories and teach him about different subjects. Hemaka realized that he was the only person who didn't treat Aloysius terribly besides the boy's tormented mother. As soon as the emperor caught wind of Hemaka interacting with Aloysiua, Hemaka was shipped off to Lunae's royal allies in the newly formed nation Sidus. It was there that Hemaka received a vision of Aloysiusa before a body suspended in the air by a rope around its neck... The vision disturbed Hemaka, so he didn't sleep for days. He was allowed to leave the palace, and made the mistake of telling a royal assistant about his gift. News spread across the royal court like wildfire. Soon enough, Hemaka was being harassed into trying to predict different things such as future income, future wars or even the weather. This caused Hemaka to hole himself up in the palace. The capital city's people grew intrigued as news of Hemaka's presence spread. Hemala soon learned how to voluntarily use his gift. But doing it at demand would only make him weak and dazed.
